A new year brings a shiny new calendar of events and dates for your diary and with any luck, the opportunity to plan some new outfits for Weddings, a trip to the Races, a Bar Mitzvah or that special birthday trip to Ladies Day at Royal Ascot.
However by the time you’ve bought a new dress, bag and shoes, not everyone has the budget for a bespoke hat or headpiece so last Autumn I began to offer a Hire service to make my hats and headpieces more widely available. Here, I’ll talk a little about the process of hiring headwear from Emma Fozard Millinery.
My studio in the heart of Stockport Old Town is a little haven away from the buzz of the M60 and is a hive of creative activity. I open my studio by appointment and encourage you to bring along the outfit or accessories that you’ll be wearing for a no-obligation consultation.
Some people come with a fixed idea in mind; “I don’t suit hats” is a common claim. However I encourage you to try on a few different styles bearing in mind how you will wear your hair and other accessories such as glasses so we can play around with different looks.
A client brought along this matching shoes and bag which was perfectly complimented by Beau Metallic; a black sinamay button hat with a beech and silver finish.
During your consultation I will offer advice on colour, accessories and your overall outfit if you wish, to ensure that you feel completely comfortable with your chosen hat or headpiece. After all you want to be able to wear it with confidence!

I offer a comprehensive range of small perch hats in wool felt or sinamay with my signature wood veneer trims in core colours with finishes including bold metallic statements to subtle and muted Liberty prints. My sculptural wood veneer headpieces will ensure you stand out in the crowd and add an elegant finishing touch to your outfit.
