Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair
Emma Fozard
A busy few months at the studio culminated in my first event since setting up; the Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair held at Old Granada Studios in Manchester; the biggest craft fair in the North where I was showing my work alongside many established and high profile designer makers.
It was the perfect opportunity to unveil my new branding courtesy of emmacrabtree.com.
I have also been developing ranges especially to launch here in particular my Hat Trick range that has changeable trims so the hats can be worn at multiple occasions.
My stand sharer Emma Crabtree did a wonderful job of modelling a ready to wear Woodband throughout the fair.
On my stand I demonstrated the processes involved in hand finishing a blocked felt hat and showed the skills required to sew in linings.
I also showcased my bridal collection which uses natural wood and paper in metallic and pearl tones, on a band, comb or sinamay base.
The experience was exciting and overwhelming at times and I was lucky to have been supported by family, friends and fellow marketplace studio colleagues. I am pleased to have met a huge number of friendly hat wearers who couldn't resist trying one of mine on and I’m eager to get back into the studio to respond to the useful feedback that I received…..watch this space!
